The decrease of bees began in Hawaii during September of 2016, but later on, the cutback hit within the other 48 states. With all the diseases and Varroa Mites, pesticides, climate change, and habitat loss, the bees and many other species are facing great danger.

Have you looked up at the sky recently? You may have seen the total solar eclipse from August, or that really bright supermoon from December. However, there were two of the best meteor showers in 2017 that you might have missed. Meteor showers come from the gritty debris left in space. Starting in one spot, they fly across the dark night sky. They get their names from the constellation where the meteor, or shooting star, comes from.

Waste in the Caribbean Sea

The Caribbean Sea contains a large collection of debris. The patch is located between Honduras and Guatemala. The litter contains plastic bags, cans, plastic forks, plastic bottles, shoes, needles, syringes, solid waste, popped soccer balls, and even dead bodies have been found in the mess. For the Caribbean sea, the pollution has become an urgent threat.

The Amazon Rainforest

The amazon rainforest is one of the largest tropical forests in the world. The rainforest is considered to be very beautiful, it has many animals and different plants that make up its ecosystem. The Amazon Rainforest stretches throughout South America from Brazil to Venezuela to Columbia and parts of Ecuador and Peru encompassing a billion acres of land. Sadly since 1978 over 750,000 kilometers (289,000 square miles) have been destroyed. Deforestation across the Amazon has been very heartbreaking.

New Antibiotic Found on African Ants

A new antibiotic which is only produced by bacteria that is found on a specific species of African ant. This antibiotic could potently battle against antibiotic-resistant ‘superbugs’ like Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) or Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) and many other life-threatening bacteria strains.
