Electric Cars Are the Way to Go

By: Tawni Parrish    Feb. 16, 2018

A new market has swept its way across the globe, and it is both an amazing, futuristic advance and very environmentally friendly: the electric car.

An electric car is powered by energy stored in large batteries, as opposed to gas-powered engines. While they are not able to travel as much distance, and they must be charged, (meaning a much more time-consuming method of refueling), these cars are cars of the future, and they offer so many benefits.

These vehicles are very environmentally friendly. They both reduce huge amounts of emissions and are extremely energy efficient, and potentially play a large role in saving and protecting our planet. Tailpipe emission is a huge

source of pollution all over the world, and

it affects the climate (these pollutants are

said to be a leading source of global

warming), plant and animal species, entire

ecosystems, and even our crops and food

sources. Alas, this is entirely avoidable.

Emission is only a product of gasoline-

powered cars, and the use of electric cars

eliminates these pollutants. Additionally, these are said to be some of the most reliable automobiles; being high performance and low maintenance.

Companies are taking advantage of this market, making electric cars more available than ever. Dealerships such as Tesla, Chevy, Nissan, and even Mercedes-Benz either made plans to release or did release a form of electric car in 2017.

The benefits of these cars are becoming increasingly clear to people all over the world. There is even talk of laws being passed to ban the use of combustion engines in parts of Europe, China and the United States, in attempt to slow global warming and greatly reduce pollution. These laws could be put into place as soon as 2040, and many other countries are expected to jump on board.

2017 was a good year for electric cars, and things are predicted to continue looking up. In the U.S. alone, sales went up by nearly 30% last year, and growing publicity keeps that number rising. The benefits of these cars so greatly outweigh any cons, and in the long run, they will be a huge factor in saving the Earth. A broader population of consumers is the first step, and the passing of laws, mass production, and publicity will all help with that. In terms of those three factors, 2017 was a pivotal year, and was the perfect way to kick off 2018. Electric cars will continue to be of utmost importance, and the genius behind them should be greatly appreciated.
