Horizon Zero Dawn
Set nearly a thousand years into the future, we follow Aloy: a hunter living in a world that is run over by hostile robots. You follow her story to uncover why she was an outcast and where she came from. Horizon Zero Dawn is a different yet similar type of open-world game with different features. The story is very well done. The whole map is beautiful and life-like, and has implanted RPG features into the game, like crafting and being able to choose outcomes of certain events throughout. That is why it deserves a spot on the list!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Link, the main protagonist of the franchise, wakes up after a hundred-year slumber to a voice that guides him to destroy the kingdom of Hyrule once and for all. Similar to the original Zelda, it is based in an open-world map that can be explored throughout the game. You can find, buy and trade for armor, weapons, and food. The side quests are very fun to do and could keep you playing for hours on end! Though it has had problems on the technical side, it is still very enjoyable.
Cuphead
We follow Cuphead and his brother Mugman as they fight a series of bosses in order to repay a debt with the Devil (crazy I know!). This games design and basis is founded off old rubber house style animation used in cartoons in the 1930’s. The amount of detail and originality in the game is nothing you would expect out of an indie game. You literally stress and have fun playing the game, and in my opinion it is really good for gamers.

Assassin’s Creed Origins
Set in Egypt in the late Ptolemaic period, we follow Bayek: a Medjay who serves to protect the Ptolemaic Kingdom. This is the supposed origins of the Brotherhood; the one that past protagonists in the past games of Assassin’s Creed, Like Ezio, Altair, and Connor. As the story goes on, you meet historic figures and help them or even go up against them, such as Cleopatra and Julius Caesar. To be honest, this is my favorite Assassin’s Creed game so far! It was an improvement over the last few games and I still play it, even after 2017 ended. The RPG elements and open-world and story all are really well done. You truly feel that you are in Ancient Egypt.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
The awaited sequel to 2014’s Wolfenstein: The New Order, follows William “B.J.” Blazkowicz, who is a war veteran fighting against the Nazi Regime in America during 1961. The setting is similar to the show “The High Man in the Castle” which is a what-if storyline about the Nazi’s winning the Second World War. I like the game very much for its first-shooter gameplay, narrative, and the setting of the game
