And Yet Another Unsolved Case…
By: Dayana Hernandez Feb. 7, 2018

This case was towards the end of last year, and it began in Galveston, Texas. This, like any other unsolved case, is a sad one. Even more so when it deals with a child. For this reason, I believe that this case should be solved quickly, yet cautiously. “Little Jacob,” was the name he was given, by a police officer who was in church as the case began. He had just witnessed a child being baptized with the name of Jacob. With the child unidentified, she felt right to name him Jacob, and so the name began.

This little boy washed up on a beach, or so it was believed at the beginning. He was found one late October afternoon. When the autopsy took place, it concluded that the investigators were wrong. It was believed that Jacob actually died October 17, or the 18th of that month. October 20th was when he was found. The autopsy showed that the child did not drown. In fact, it’s believed that he was placed in the water already dead. To this day it is still unknown how he died. However, one thing is for sure: he was dead before being placed in the water. Most likely from someone locally. In fact, investigators think that the little boy had been dead for a good two to three days before being placed on the beach. To the belief of the investigators, the child is 3 years old and his height is three feet. Not to mention, likely from Hispanic descent.

Little Jacob has no name, or at least no legal name.
No one knows how he got there, and no one has come
to look for him. As evidence the boy’s body shows
that he was a victim of abuse and neglect. surely
someone did that do him, because he couldn’t have
done it to himself. Although the boy was abused and
neglected, top investigator Coroner doesn’t believe
that the injuries could have been enough to end the
child’s life. In addition, his weight is less than
half of what he was supposed to weigh, for his
estimated age. The child was compared with missing
children locally, state-wide, and internationally,
yet wasn’t a match with any of those children.
Jacob’s DNA and fingerprints didn’t show up on any
national bases. That being said, children about his
age don’t usually have their DNA on a database anyway. The evidence that was collected is very limited for multiple reasons. A few reasons include: he was placed on a beach, in the water with nothing on, and had nothing to identify him. The investigators kept in mind that Jacob is a minor and didn’t want to upload a picture of him, and decided to upload a sketch of the boy, instead, on October 22, 2017. After two months and still no information on Jacob, the investigators decided to slightly edit a real picture of the boy to cover up signs of decomposition and post it on social media. This is because no one had come forward with information on the child. This was done in hopes to get someone to come forward and claim the child, so he could rightfully be put to rest. This got to the extent, that on November 6, the FBI offered $100,000 for his information, and crime stoppers has offered 5,000.

To conclude, it has been three months since Jacob was found by the sea line, and there is still no information about him. We should not let another case be unsolved. Without a doubt there must be someone, at least one person who knows who this boy is, and they should come forward so this case can come to an end. Therefore, he can be put to rest like he should be.
