The Hot Mess Beauty Trends of 2017
By: Keeley McIntyre Feb. 2, 2018
2017 was very interesting in the beauty world, from wavy brows all the way to turning everyday objects into beauty blenders, Beauty gurus decided to test crazy hacks and trends. Here are some of the worst beauty trends of last year:

7. Wavy Brows
Did Beauty gurus just get bored? Wavy brows were probably the most popular among the beauty community, and were probably the worst. And if you don’t know what wavy brows look like, they’re basically just squiggles. Easily one of the top worst trends of 2017.

6. Feathered Brows
And then there was the feathered brows, which had beauty gurus using gel to have their brows look like feathers. You may have asked yourself in 2017 what happened to the good old-fashioned eyebrow? A lot of trends involved weird eyebrow shapes. Feathered brows just resemble centipedes, and thus make the top 10.

5. Glitter armpits
Just why? Armpits are obviously not captivating enough, so the beauty community decided to spice them up. Besides the fact of this being completely useless and probably uncomfortable, glitter is pretty much impossible to get rid of.
4. The Condom as a Beauty Blender
This one is flat out weird, using a condom as a beauty blender is just one of the many objects that beauty gurus used to beat their face. Just like the glitter armpits, the condom is completely useless as well, sometimes.

3. Lip injections and Overlining
This has been an ongoing trend for a couple of years mostly influenced by Kylie Jenner. Big lips have become a new beauty standard, so girls have been paying thousands of dollars for lip injections and overlining their lips, maybe a little too much.
2. Black highlighter
Jeffree Star began this trend by selling one of the first black highlighters called “Onyx Ice”. Black highlighters became a trend and it just does not look right. Definitely one of the worst trends in 2017.

1. Nose Hair Extensions
Nose hair extensions made the top 10 effortlessly. Beauty gurus used fake eyelashes on the rims of their nostrils, which was perhaps the weirdest beauty trend in 2017. They looked like spiders and were probably really uncomfortable, but anything to make the beauty world more interesting. Beauty is pain right? Even if it makes people look completely ridiculous.
Moral of the story, 2017 was full of wild trends that took off in the beauty community. Trends come and go but 2017 was one for the books. Millennials can now tell their grandchildren that they were alive for the nose hair extensions.
